At Peques, we believe the smallest hands can make the biggest difference. This week at our Fulham Broadway setting, the children spent time in the nursery baking homemade pastries, and on Friday morning they proudly shared them with their families at our Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning.
Parents stopped at drop-off for a fresh juice and a treat made with tiny hands and a great deal of love, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Every penny donated by our families went directly to Macmillan, to support people living with cancer and those closest to them.
Because we believe in this cause wholeheartedly, Peques matched every donation made. Together, our community raised £172, and with our match that becomes £344 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Learning through doing
Baking is one of the richest activities we share with young children. Measuring and pouring bring early mathematics to life, stirring and shaping the dough build the fine motor control that later supports mark making and writing, and waiting for something to come out of the oven is its own quiet lesson in patience. Offering what they have made to someone else gives children something just as valuable: the pride of contributing, and a first understanding that small acts of care matter to other people.
This is what nursery life at Peques looks like: children learning through doing, families coming together, and a community that shows up for what matters.

Visiting Peques
Both of our settings are currently close to capacity. Places are offered first to siblings of children already with us, then as temporary spaces when they arise, and otherwise through our waiting list. Visits are by personal invitation, and families are welcome to get in touch through peques.co.uk/contact.
