Our little bakers at Peques Parsons Green recently held a cupcake sale in support of the British Heart Foundation, and we are delighted to share the results with our community.
A total beyond our expectations
Thanks to the children's baking and the generosity of our families, the sale raised £160. Peques then matched every pound donated, doubling the total to £320.
The generosity did not stop there. One of our Peques parents arranged an additional contribution through her employer's matched-giving programme, alongside a personal donation of her own, bringing the grand total to £1,600. We are deeply grateful to her, and to every family who played a part.
Learning kindness through stories
The sale was also a meaningful learning journey for the children. Through The Smartest Giant in Town, alongside other stories and creative activities, they explored kindness, generosity and the joy of helping others.
The children also visited the British Heart Foundation in person. Seeing where the money would go, and hearing about the difference it could make, brought their learning to life in a way that stays with them.
Why giving matters in the early years
We believe children are never too young to understand what it means to care for others. When a young child helps to decorate a cupcake knowing it will help someone they have never met, they begin to see that their actions matter beyond their own world. These early experiences of giving, sharing and thinking of others lay the foundations for empathy, a sense of responsibility and belonging to a wider community. They are values we nurture every day, and moments like this allow children to live them.
Thank you
We are immensely proud of what our Peques Parsons Green community achieved together. Thank you to every family who bought a cupcake, made a donation or supported this wonderful cause.
If you are an early years practitioner who shares these values, we would love to hear from you. Our current vacancies are at peques.co.uk/workwithus, and you can write to us at careers@peques.co.uk.
Our settings are close to capacity. Places are offered first to siblings, then as temporary spaces, and then from our waiting list. Visits are by personal invitation, and families who would like to join the waiting list are welcome to contact us through peques.co.uk/contact.
