Keeping our children safe is at the heart of everything we do. Across both our Fulham Broadway and Parsons Green settings, together with our Head Office, our whole team recently came together for in-house refresher training, covering both Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid, with a particular emphasis on CPR and choking response.
This is a commitment we make willingly. Our team gave up their weekend to refresh and update their skills, and we are deeply grateful to each of them. It is this dedication that makes Peques the kind of place children deserve to grow in.
Proud holders of Millie's Mark
We are proud holders of Millie's Mark, the gold standard endorsement in paediatric first aid. It is awarded only to settings where 100% of staff working directly with children are fully trained, going well beyond the minimum legal requirement.
Millie's Mark is named in memory of Millie Thompson, who died after choking at nursery in 2012, when she was just nine months old. The award exists so that every member of a team is confident, ready and capable should an emergency ever arise. For us, honouring that memory means holding ourselves to the highest standard, not the minimum one.
Training that stays alive
Our first aid training is always delivered in house, by the same trainer, so that our knowledge stays current and consistent across the whole organisation. Every member of staff receives training and regular refreshers, and any new colleague completes their training within three months of joining Peques, regardless of any qualification they may already hold.
This is how we keep the learning alive rather than filed away. Being ready is not simply a requirement to us. It is a promise we make to every child and every family in our care.
