Peques Statement
After giving birth to my two daughters, I decided to go back to work and look for the best childcare possible for them. I soon realised the lack of a good nursery in London that allowed my children the opportunity to have a bilingual education and to maintain a connection with our Spanish roots in London. This is how I, Margarita Morro Beltran, created Peques in September 1999, with the wish of sharing my enthusiasm for such an important concept that is, giving every child the opportunity of a warm and loving bilingual Spanish education in a foreign country.
I consider that a child’s education is not exclusive to the child’s home or school environment, but that we as parents and teachers unconsciously transmit knowledge through our actions and way of life.
I believe it is a key factor that teachers value each of their pupils individually, as well as the family environment, starting with their parents. This would be the first point of reference for education and learning, the importance of knowing our place and role that is expected of us, be that of teachers, parents or children.
The starting point for children is “What parents give to them is sufficient”. We, as teachers, should educate our pupils to work and make the most of what they have. This is a very valuable concept, which enables any child, however they may be, to feel totally accepted as another one of us.
It is important to acknowledge our own origins, to respect our teachers, the dignity of our pupils and their diverse customs and cultures. Only by looking at our own roots with love can we teach our pupils to create their own path and look towards the future firmly and confidently.
"The joy of life comes with the acceptance and pride of our roots." |
